Last night, Haymarket by Scandic, which is located on Stockholm’s Hötorget square, was designated Sweden’s best individual hotel. The prestigious award was accepted by General Manager Jessica Norgren and Food & Beverage Manager Erik Pändel at the annual Grand Travel Awards gala held at Grand Hôtel in Stockholm.
On October 1, 2019, Scandic will take over the operations of Radisson Blu Royal in Stavanger, Norway. The hotel, which is ideally located in downtown Stavanger, will target business and leisure travelers as well as local residents. After the takeover, the hotel will change name to Scandic Royal Stavanger.
Scandic has signed an agreement regarding the operation of a new hotel in attractive Nørreport in central Copenhagen. The hotel, which will have some 100 rooms, is expected to open in 2020.

In a process that began in 2012, Scandic and property owner Pandox are refurbishing 21 roadside hotels across Sweden. First on the list was Scandic Upplands Väsby, which was completed in December 2012. Now the hotel and Koncept, the firm behind the new design, have been chosen as one of five finalists for the prestigious European Hotel Awards.
During the 1st European UNWTO Conference on accessible tourism, the Nordic hotel chain Scandic's Director of Accessibility, Magnus Berglund will speak about design for all in the hospitality industry. The conference will feature good practices of universal accessibility and design for all in a wide-range of tourism destinations in Europe, with a special focus on heritage cities.
