Sleep a secret weapon as national team prepares for Portugal match

The Swedish football team have charge its batteries before the crunch match against Portugal. Key to the preparations are rest and good sleep. To optimise conditions ahead of the match, the team decided to upgrade to Scandic’s new Superior Sleep rooms. These rooms are equipped with innovative new beds that guarantee each player a really good night’s sleep, so they are ready to perform at their very best.

Two matches in four days. That requires meticulous planning, with rest, recovery and mental preparation taking centre stage. During these days, nothing should distract the players from focusing on the important task ahead. Sleeping well is extremely important in creating the conditions for top performance. The Swedish team has therefore decided that all the players and managers will now sleep in Scandic’s new Superior Sleep rooms for the team’s home matches.

“Ensuring that the players can recover properly and have an opportunity for rest and sleep is essential in being able to perform during two tough matches in quick succession. A large squad has all sorts of requirements when it comes to how hard or soft a bed should be. Now we’ve found a bed that suits everyone, we naturally want to make the most of it,” says Marcus Allbäck, who is responsible for the players in Sweden’s national football team.

New bed a Swedish innovation

Scandic’s Superior Sleep rooms are equipped with an innovative new bed, the first in the world that can be tailored to your own preferences for bed comfort. Using a remote control, the players themselves can decide how hard or soft the bed should be.

“When tackling a tough schedule with several crucial matches, you have to consider everything. A key piece of the puzzle is of course a comfortable bed that works for me,” says footballer Anders Svensson.

“Physique and weight vary a great deal across the team, So it’s great that we can now offer the players beds completely tailored to them. We hope this will help Sweden achieve great things in the Portugal matches,” comments Pernilla Johansson, General Manager of Scandic Park.
