Last night, Haymarket by Scandic, which is located on Stockholm’s Hötorget square, was designated Sweden’s best individual hotel. The prestigious award was accepted by General Manager Jessica Norgren and Food & Beverage Manager Erik Pändel at the annual Grand Travel Awards gala held at Grand Hôtel in Stockholm.
Scandic reopens iconic hotel and event venue in Copenhagen
Today, Scandic has opened the historic hotel and event venue Scandic Falkoner in Copenhagen’s Frederiksberg theater district. This is the company’s second new hotel in the city in less than a year and just one of several hotels that will be established in the coming years.
Scandic to take over hotel in Stavanger
On October 1, 2019, Scandic will take over the operations of Radisson Blu Royal in Stavanger, Norway. The hotel, which is ideally located in downtown Stavanger, will target business and leisure travelers as well as local residents. After the takeover, the hotel will change name to Scandic Royal Stavanger.
Scandic to open new hotel in Copenhagen
Scandic has signed an agreement regarding the operation of a new hotel in attractive Nørreport in central Copenhagen. The hotel, which will have some 100 rooms, is expected to open in 2020.
Finnfulness finds its footing at Marski by Scandic, a new signature hotel now open in Helsinki
Scandic’s fifth signature hotel, Marski by Scandic, is now open in the heart of Helsinki. The refurbished hotel has 363 rooms as well as meeting and event spaces, a restaurant, bar and café and a wellness center. Originally opened in 1962, the classic hotel was renovated to become a Scandic signature hotel that stands firmly on its roots of Finnfulness.
Scandic Hotels introduces standard for allergy-friendly rooms
Scandic is the world’s first hotel to introduce a standard for allergy-friendly rooms. This means that guests booking allergy-friendly rooms can expect considerations including wooden floors and fragrance-free, hypoallergenic toiletries approved by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association.
Scandic climbs in the Sustainable Brand Index – ranked higher in all countries
The results of this year’s Sustainable Brand Index have now been announced and Scandic has continued to climb closer to the top in all countries in the Nordic region. In Sweden, it was the number one hotel for the ninth year in a row, ranking 18 out of 355 brands.

Scandic involves 18,000 team members in developing company’s sustainability initiatives through Nordic hackathon
During the winter 2018, Scandic held a sustainability hackathon to challenge the company’s 18,000 team members to come up with the next sustainability initiatives to implement across the organization. Participation was extremely high and more than 400 ideas were submitted. Two winning ideas have now been chosen, one within Environmental sustainability and one in Social sustainability.
