The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) recognized Scandic Vulkan in Oslo, Norway with the Gold Adrian Award for public relations for its winning entry in the 56th annual Adrian Awards, the largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition globally.
This year’s contest attracted more than 1,100 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. On January 28, 2013, HSMAI paid tribute to Scandic Vulkan during the annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala, a black-tie affair attended by more than 1,000 hospitality, travel and tourism marketing executives at the New York Marriott Marquis.
“It is a great honor for us to be awarded the HSMAI Adrian Award in “Public Relations - New Opening/Launch”. It is the first time that a Norwegian hotel receives the prestigious Adrian Award, and we are very proud that our work with the new Scandic Vulkan hotel in Oslo has acclaimed international recognition”, said Axel Huus, Director Sales & Marketing at Scandic Hotels.
The hotel also received silver awards for “Advertising Campaign” and “Integrated Market Campaign for Consumers”. “We decided to try and think outside the box when we designed both the hotel and the market communication with our concept hotel at Vulkan. Through a fresh design and creative market communication we succeeded to create curiousness and an emotional attachment”, said Huus.
“The bar is continuously set higher each year in regards to the quality of Adrian Awards submissions we receive,” said Fran Brasseux, HSMAI executive vice president. “This year’s winners in travel advertising, public relations, and digital marketing exemplified marketing innovation that led to outstanding results, and demonstrated the power of marketing integration across all channels. We look forward to celebrating all this exceptional work with the industry and recognizing the remarkable winners at the Adrian Awards Gala.”
In addition to celebrating Scandic Vulkan award-winning work, the Gala and dinner reception honors lifetime achievement, as well as the “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing.” All winning entries will be accessible in the Adrian Awards Winners Gallery online following the gala at www.adrianawards.com.
